1. About This Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Hoffman Legal (“Hoffman Legal,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you visit hoffman.legal (the “Site”) or submit a consultation request. It applies to information collected through the Site and does not describe the handling of information provided in the course of an established attorney-client relationship, which is governed separately by applicable rules of professional conduct and any engagement agreement.
2. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly
When you submit our contact or consultation form we collect the information you choose to include — typically your name, email address, phone number, the practice area relevant to your inquiry, and a description of your situation.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, we collect standard technical information automatically, including your IP address, browser type and version, device type, referring URL, pages viewed, time spent on pages, and general location inferred from your IP address. We use Google Analytics to help us understand how visitors use the Site.
Third-party embeds
The Site embeds Google Maps to display our office location. When you interact with the map, Google may collect information according to its own privacy practices.
3. How We Use Information
- To respond to your consultation request and provide the information you've requested.
- To evaluate whether we can assist with your matter, and to schedule a consultation.
- To maintain, improve, and secure the Site.
- To comply with legal obligations and to protect our legal rights.
4. Attorney-Client Relationship
Submitting the contact form does not create an attorney-client relationship. An attorney-client relationship with Hoffman Legal is formed only after (a) we have reviewed your potential matter for conflicts, (b) we have expressly agreed in writing to represent you, and (c) you have signed an engagement agreement. Please do not send confidential or time-sensitive information through the form until representation is confirmed.
5. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers. Vendors that help us operate the Site and process inquiries — including our web host, email and form-submission provider (Formspree), and analytics provider (Google).
- Legal requirements. When required by law, subpoena, court order, or to protect our rights, safety, or property.
- Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of our practice, subject to confidentiality protections.
6. Cookies & Tracking Technologies
The Site uses cookies and similar technologies for Google Analytics and basic functionality. Most browsers allow you to refuse or delete cookies through their settings. Disabling cookies may affect certain Site features.
7. Data Retention
We retain inquiry information for as long as necessary to respond to your request and for reasonable record-keeping and conflict-check purposes, unless a longer retention period is required by law or applicable rules of professional conduct.
8. Security
We take reasonable administrative, technical, and physical measures to protect information submitted through the Site. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please do not send highly sensitive information (financial account numbers, SSNs, medical records) through the website; instead, contact us by phone to arrange a secure method.
9. Children's Privacy
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information through the Site, please contact us so we can delete it.
10. Your Choices
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of information you have submitted through the Site by emailing us at david@hoffman.legal. We will respond consistent with applicable law. Requests that conflict with our legal or professional obligations (for example, retention required under rules of professional conduct) may not be able to be fulfilled in full.
11. Third-Party Links
The Site may link to third-party websites we do not control. This Policy does not apply to those websites; review their privacy policies before submitting information.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be reflected by a revised “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated on the Site.
